With its "Open Innovation and Open Source Strategy", Schleswig-Holstein is the first German federal state to pursue a new sustainable path in its IT infrastructure, enabling it to carry out its tasks independently and securely in the digital world.
Key areas of the strategy include:
- Establishing an Open Source Program Office (OSPO) within the state administration. The OSPO SH acts as a liaison between central IT management and other open-source stakeholders, promoting the use of open-source software.
- Supporting DigitalHub.SH, which connects the needs of the public sector with ideas from the digital economy, brings project partners together, and fosters open innovation.
- Focusing on Open Government: In line with the principles of transparent governance, the state government promotes the increased use of independently verifiable hardware and software, as well as open-source technology, to make public sector work more transparent, participatory, and cooperative.
- Participating in the German Administrative Cloud and aiming to join the Center for Digital Sovereignty (ZenDiS).
